Tarnoform (POM) - polyacetal, polyoxymethylene

Tarnoform is obtained from the polymerization reaction of formaldehyde or trioxane.
The polymer is partially crystalline. Hard, stiff, ductile, unbreakable. It is characterized by excellent dimensional stability, good abrasion resistance, low moisture absorption, good dielectric properties, physiological neutrality, and resistance to solvents and tension cracks. Not resistant to UV radiation. Homopolymers have a higher level of crystallinity and better mechanical properties (melting point of approximately 175°C). Copolymers have higher heat resistance (melting point of approximately 165°C). Glass fibre reinforced grades: increased specific gravity (up to 1.80 g/cm3), very high stiffness, higher creep resistance, and high dimensional stability.

Tarnoform (POM) is characterized by relatively high temperature sensitivity; too long in the cylinder can lead to thermal degradation, along with the simultaneous emission of formaldehyde as decomposition begins (a very sharp, unpleasant odour).
In order to achieve the desired properties of the polymer, Tarnoform is modified, as appropriate, by adding glass fibre, glass beads, colorants, minerals, slip as well as antistatic additives and many other additives in the process known as compounding.
